December 2008

Dear Friend:

One of the biggest gifts clients receive from working with a career coach is the opportunity to begin to see what is possible.

Some of the most common phrases we hear in our office from clients are, “I had no idea that company/job/position even existed,” “I didn’t realize I had other options,” and “I never looked at it from that perspective.” Or, “I’m starting to see how limited my thinking has been around what is possible.” (Read more about the Art of Possibility on my blog The Journey.)

As you reflect on your career direction for 2009, consider the following:

  • Observe your thoughts and mindset: how are you limiting yourself? I love the slogan: Don’t believe everything you think!
  • Are you keeping an open mind and staying attuned to new possibilities (internal restructuring, employee departures and layoffs create movement and space for new internal opportunities)?
  • Are you selling yourself short in the job search process or are you going for what you really want (consider joining us Jan. 30th for the Ultimate Job Search Workshop)?
  • Are you asking for and receiving help when it comes to brainstorming or strategizing around your career? It might be time to get some objective, big picture support from a career strategist, mentor or colleague.
  • Are you currently in or considering a career transition but feeling stuck about how to move forward? Set weekly goals, take baby steps and start researching what’s out there (and consider coming to Finding Your Career Mojo, our popular career change workshop).

No matter what you hear about the year to come, all will agree, we are living in a time of uncertainty. Which isn’t a bad thing—at all.

Uncertainty provides us with the opportunity to *pause* and think about what really matters. You might ask, “what feeds me professionally and personally?” And, “what new opportunities or possibilities might exist that I have never considered before?”

Enjoy your holiday season and let the award-winning Career Strategists coaching team know how we can help you. We are honored to serve clients every week from across the U.S. who are in career transition, considering career change, looking for jobs and needing support in marketing themselves, preparing for career advancement and navigating workplace/communication challenges, launching small businesses and seeking greater work/life balance.

We would love to assist you and are scheduling January appointments now. Please call us at 512-459-6700 or info@careerstrategists.net. Gift certificates are available for all Career Strategists services.

Warmly,
Career Strategists---Renee Trudeau, Angela Estes and Angela Loeb
